If you are interested in pursuing a career as a Naval officer through the NROTC program at Notre Dame, this website will help answer some of your questions and guide you through the process.
What is NROTC Notre Dame
The purpose of the Navy ROTC Program is to educate and train qualified men and women for service as commissioned officers in the Navy and Marine Corps. The Navy ROTC Scholarship Program plays an important role in preparing mature young men and women for leadership and management positions in an increasingly technical Navy and Marine Corps.
There are over 100 Midshipmen at the University of Notre Dame, Holy Cross College, and Saint Mary’s College who train and prepare for future careers as Navy or Marine Corps officers.
Our midshipmen have additional required commitments but can strike a balance between military discipline and life as ordinary college students. We focus on leadership, academics, physical fitness, and community involvement to prepare our midshipmen for commissioning.
For further information on NROTC commissioning and careers, please visit the Commissioning Page for further information.
NROTC Mission
The Navy ROTC Program was established to develop midshipmen mentally, morally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, and loyalty, and with the core values of honor, courage, and commitment in order to commission college graduates as naval officers who possess a basic professional background, are motivated toward careers in the naval service and have a potential for future development in mind and character so as to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government.
